On May 25, a human rights film festival was held in the Sky Garden of our school library. All Jeonju University members were able to participate in the festival, not only for Jeonju University students but also for employees and teachers.

At the 1st Human Rights Film Festival held by the Human Rights Center, they had time to watch the movie CODA together under the slogan “Together, Learning, Sharing.” The movie “CODA” was released for the first time at the Sundance Film Festival. The title of the movie, CODA, is an abbreviation for “Children of Deaf Adults.” The film tells the story of a girl who has difficulties while realizing her dream of becoming a singer.

Before watching the movie, the Human Rights Center introduced the movie and the importance of the Human Rights Film Festival. This helped to understand the purpose of watching the movie. The center provided drinks and sandwiches to those who were pre-registered, which increased the level of participation.

After watching the movie, there was a discussion session where participants shared their impressions and thoughts about the movie and human rights. Coffee coupons were provided to those who shared their impressions, creating an atmosphere where they could actively participate in the discussion.

The Human Rights Center is planning a number of human rights programs for our students as well as a human rights film festival. If you want to know more about the human rights center’s program, you can find it at Jeonju University’s Human Rights Center (https://www.jj.ac.kr/humanrights/).
